Super! Automation recording is a very needed feature

Now, just to keep expectations under control: That is the extent of the UI -- there's no editing other than pause and delete. It is mostly controller based: start automation recording, tweak some controls, stop recording and the results automatically playback in a loop. It is not meant as a replacement for DAW-style mixdown automation; it's about improvising 'moves' and 'pattern tweaks'... But, it is definitely loads o fun!!

Is it only for automate-able parameters exposed by a hosted plugin? Or can you use it to record automation of Num itself a la this thread?

For plugins, you'd need to setup a FaderBox, or something else I've been working on that is not ready to be revealed yet...

Very much like that, and one of the uses I'll probably do a lot is for simple, regular pattern changes (3rd note up half step, then down a half step....)

Limitations are for params that can be modulated, and, for a while at least, only via "remote controllers", i.e. MIDI & OSC, Launchpad, etc. -- which is mostly how you'd want to use it anyway...
