Default Modulating Start point - Interval vs External

Noticed something, was wondering if this was a bug or a feature

If I have a default 16 step Track, and I set a short sequence length (say 4) and use the internal modulation sequencer to modulate Start step, i get a 4 step sequence that I can move over the 16 steps (I think of it as a window, and I really like.)

However, when I use an External modulation inputs instead, if I set the start step to 2, the sequence is now 3 steps long. If i set start to 3, sequence is 2 steps long, anything larger, 1 step sequence.

It seems to get the same 'window' effect using external mod I have to externally modulate both Start Step and Length.
So to get a 4 step sequence starting on step 4, i have to modulate Length=8 and it's a bit flakey, jumps back and forth.

In my case, I am using Tracks 3 and 4 Pitch outputs as modulation sources, into the Mod1 and Mod2 inputs. Basically, i am trying to cheat here, I wanted more than 8 steps of modulation

That sounds like a bug -- I'll check it!

... and should I take that as a request for longer modulation tracks?

Cheers,
Jim

I wouldn't mind longer modulation tracks. Actually, I was attempted to sequence 'Clapping Music' from Steve Reich - and I found I could do it much easier using Presets and a Playlist. However, more modulation is never bad
