Default MIDI controllers with multiple plugins

If I have two instances of the Numerology plugin and have MIDI controllers assigned to interface elements in each of them, only the Numerology instance that's active (or was last active if I have the vst windows closed) reflects changes to the controlled parameters, the other instance stops processing incoming control MIDI. I'm using Ableton, and am doing my controller assignments directly from the MIDI controller hardware (a Livid Code box-of-knobs) ... is there a way to do this so that all Numerology instances respond to MIDI controller data? I suspect I should somehow be doing this all within Ableton, but am drawing a blank on how to go about doing that without macro assignments.

Default

Never mind, I blew away every preference or cache file I could find for com.five12 and the stand-alone isn't constantly crashing for me any more (at least so far.) After trying the VST for a while, doing stuff with the stand-alone and exporting it as MIDI files for Ableton is a much better workflow for me.
